A Simple Way to Back Up Your DNS Zone

I came across Jared Crandall writing about A Nifty Trick to Backing-up AD Integrated DNS Zones in the CBFIVE solutions blog. It’s a good and simple solution to an oft-asked question: If you’re running AD-integrated DNS zones, how can you extract the zone’s contents from AD?

You can certainly write a script to extract the data, but there’s a very simple way. You essentially create a secondary zone on any old computer, which is held (since it’s a secondary zone it’s not AD integrated) in a text file.

Take a look at Jared’s blog for the full details. (don’t forget to track back Sean)
