Saving with Save and Save As

The Save command is used to save the current version of the document, overwriting the previous version.

The Save As command is used to save a new copy of the document. In the Save As dialog box, you can select:

  • A new location for the file. Use the Save In box, the Places Bar, or any of the other navigation tools to browse to the correct location.
  • A new name for the file. Type a name in the File name box.
  • A new type for the file. Select from the Save as type list.
  • New options, such as a password, embedded fonts, etc. Click the Tools button and choose from the drop-down menu.

The options that are available in the Tools menu of the Save As dialog box are also accessible from the Tools → Options command in Word.

  • Allowed HTML tags: <em> <strong> <blockquote> <br> <p>

Plain text

  • No HTML tags allowed.
  • Web page addresses and e-mail addresses turn into links automatically.
  • Lines and paragraphs break automatically.
