Record Labels Prove They Still Don't Get it, Plan New Type of CD Single

In this age of digital music downloads and music subscription services, you'd be forgiven for thinking that the age of the audio CD--especially that of the CD single--was coming to a close. Just don't tell the clueless record company execs, some of whom are planning, yes, seriously, a new type of CD single. Just three inches in diameter, the new pocket CD will debut in Europe this summer, and companies such as Universal Music, Sony, EMI, and BMG have all signed on board. But here's the kicker: The discs are designed to hold both music and cell phone ring tones. So if you pick up your favorite song, you can also download it to your phone and ... God, spare us. Is this some kind of joke
