Q. You receive 'There is not enough disk space' when you attempt to install Windows Server 2003 SP1 (Service Pack 1)?

When you install SP1 for Windows Server 2003, you receive an error like:

There is not enough disk space on to install Service Pack 1. Setup requires a minimum of 33 additional megabytes of free space or if you also want to archive the files for uninstallation. Setup requires 44 additional megabytes of free space. Free additional space on your hard disk and then try again.

This issue will occur if you have a customized driver cache path specified in the registry.

To workaround this behavior:

1. Open a CMD.EXE Window.

2. Type the following command and press Enter:

REG ADD HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup /V DriverCachePath /T REG_EXPAND_SZ /F /D "%SystemRoot%\Driver Cache"
