Q. You receive 'Please insert disk in <DriveLetter:>' when you insert media of non-standard sector sizes into a removable disk device in Windows 2000?

After you install the 897574 hotfix, to enable the windows kernel to recognize and handle large multiple page-sized sectors, inserting media with non-standard sector sizes into a removable disk device generates a message similar to:

Please insert disk in <DriveLetter:>

This behavior occurs because other Windows components may not recognize the larger, non-standard sector sizes.

To workaround this behavior, try restarting Windows 2000.
