Q. Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 with more than 4 GB of memory will NOT hibernate?

If you have more than 4 GB of memory on your 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, Microsoft has disabled support for hibernation because performance on a computer with more than 4 GB of RAM is very poor when hibernation support is enabled.

If you have a few occasions when you must have hibernation support on these computers, add a line with the MAXMEN= switch to BOOT.INI.
