Q. How can I force Windows Vista machines to use the classic Start menu?

A. If you really dislike your users, you can force them to use the classic Start menu. (Or perhaps you just want to keep the XP look going so they aren't confused.) You can use Group Policy by going to User Configuration, Policies, Administrative Templates, Start Menu and Taskbar and setting Force classic Start Menu to true.

You can also set the registry value HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoSimpleStartMenu to 1.
