A. I had the same problem. I resolved it by disabling the NVIDIA PhysX mode. I've heard of another problem with the game related to Realtec audio, for which it's recommended that you disable the Realtec device. For me, however, turning off PhysX did the trick. Just access the game's settings at launch, and turn off Hardware Accelerated Physx. Hopefully, a fix will be released shortly.

As a side note, if you run the game on multiple machines, it might be helpful to know that the game save files are in your My Documents folder in the Eidos\Batman Arkham Asylum\SaveData folder as a .sgd file.
