Thomson released the RCA LYRA Audio/Video Jukebox, or the RD2780, a pocket-sized audio/video (A/V) entertainment device that's compatible with multiple audio and video coder-decoders (codecs), including MPEG-4, MPEG-1, MP3, and Windows Media Audio (WMA). The 20GB RD2780 weighs 10.5 ounces and is about the size of a small picture frame. The RD2780 has a 3.5" Thin Film Transistor (TFT) LCD screen and a customizable onscreen menu system. You can use the RCA LYRA Audio/Video Jukebox to watch as many as 80 hours of prerecorded television or home videos and 40 hours of movies. The device has nine music playback modes, and you can store hundreds of hours of MP3 files on the hard disk. The RCA LYRA Audio/Video Jukebox stores as many as 100,000 JPEG photo images, which you can organize into slideshows accompanied by music. You can also use the device to store Microsoft Word documents and other files downloaded from your PC. The RCA LYRA Audio/Video Jukebox costs $449.
