Pirate Web Site Returns

Last week, Swedish law-enforcement officials shut down The Pirate Bay, a BitTorrent Web portal specializing in illegal music, video, and computer software downloads. But this week, The Pirate Bay was back online, and—ahem—it turns out that various Swedish police and government Web sites had been knocked offline by Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. How popular is The Pirate Bay? It receives more than 1.5 million unique visitors each day and offers a selection of more than 57,000 movies at any given time. The only question, of course, is whether the site can stay online going forward. Like the original Napster before it, The Pirate Bay might ultimately succumb to its own popularity
