Now Available (Again): Windows Phone 7.8 for Lumia 900 on AT&T

No, really, an update for Windows Phone 7.x users

After temporarily halting downloads of the Windows Phone 7.8 update for Lumia 900 users on AT&T Wireless in the United States, Nokia this week announced that its back. So fire up your Zune PC software, Lumia 900 users! It’s time for a little software updating.

According to Nokia, the Windows Phone 7.8 update includes:

New start screen experience. Just like Windows Phone 8, with resizable tiles: to change the size, tap and hold the live tile.

More theme colors. Again, just like Windows Phone 8.

Lock screen improvements. As with Windows Phone, you can use the Bing photo of the day as your lock screen wallpaper, and enable accidental input protection for the security code.

Fixes. The update includes a fix for functionality issues with Live Tiles, such as Live Tiles not updating properly.

With the update, the operating system version changes to 7.10.8862.144. Nokia also advises that users check out Nokia Collection in Marketplace for new or updated Nokia apps after the update.

I’m doing the podcast now, but I’ll see if I can get my Lumia 900 updated soon.
