Microsoft would like you to consider trading in your older Surface device and apply the credit towards a Surface Pro 3.
The offer, which is available from 15 February to 08 March 2015, is for US based customers only and you have to dive into the fine print to really understand the limitations and scope of the offer.
Valid 2/15/2015 until 3/8/2015. Available on Microsoft online store in US (including Puerto Rico). Not valid online in Canada. Exclusions may apply. To receive full $650 store credit towards the purchase of a new Surface Pro 3, customer must trade-in qualifying device subject to these terms. To be eligible for trade-in, product must power on battery must hold charge and not be required to be plugged in to operate, and be in fully functional, working condition without broken/missing components, cracked display/housing, liquid damage, modification(s) or have device warranty seal broken to be considered working. Cannot be password protected, and include original chargers/accessories. Looks like it is a fully online process where you have to mail the device in for evaluation and then wait to hear back. If accepted you get an online store credit only.
I am not a huge fan of sending my device off and placing it in a shipping system where it could go missing although I would insure it but what a hassle.
Anyway, it is an option if you are looking to move on up to the Surface Pro 3.
