Media Center Invades 20 New Markets

At the CeBIT Trade Show in Germany, Microsoft announced that Media Center PCs with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 software will be available in 20 new markets later this year. The company is working on expanding the entertainment OS to more than 30 countries and 17 languages by the end of 2005. The new markets are Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, and Turkey. Currently, more than 90 PC manufacturers worldwide and nearly 7000 system builders sell Media Center PCs. The software giant also revealed that it won't release a new version of the XP Media Center OS this year, unlike the previous 3 years. Instead, it will ship a software update to XP Media Center Edition 2005 that includes additional and updated features. The next full release of the XP Media Center OS will be part of the Longhorn release wave in mid-2006, Microsoft said
