JSI Tip 9987. When you start a program that accesses your USB 2.0 camera from Windows XP, you receive an error similar to 'The camera device is not correctly recognized'?

When you start a program that accesses your USB 2.0 camera from Windows XP, you receive an error similar to:

The camera device is not correctly recognized.

NOTE: After you receive the error message, the program hangs.

This behavior will occur if you have insufficient memory available on your computer.

To resolve this problem, try the following steps, in sequence, until the program functions:

1. Close programs that consume significant memory.

2. Increase the amount of virtual memory available, using Control Panel / System / Advanced / Performance Settings / Advanced / Change, and restart your computer.

3. Install additional RAM (Random Access Memory).
