When you use the Windows Explorer Tools menu to select Folder Options and check the Remember each folder's view settings on the Advanced panel of the View menu, Windows Explorer remembers up to 400 folder settings.
If Windows Explorer stops remembering, you may have reached the limit without increasing increasing the number of folders that Windows XP remembers, or the registry entries used may have become corrupted.
To delete the registry entries, so that folder settings can be remembered, we will use REG.EXE, built into Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, or REG.EXE from the Windows 2000 Support Tools on the CD-ROM.
1. Open a CMD.EXE window.
2. Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each line:
reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU" /F reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags" /FNOTE: See The column settings that you choose on the View / Choose Details menu are NOT saved?
