JSI Tip 9793. Only administrators can remotely access the Service Control Manager after applying Service Pack 1 (SP1) to Windows Server 2003?

When you install SP1 for Windows Server 2003, it changes the SCM (Service Control Manager) default security settings. As a result, only administrators can remotely access the SCM.

To resolve this difficulty:

1. Open a CMD.EXE windows on a Windows Server 2003 SP1 computer.

2. Type sc sdset SCMANAGER D:(A;;CCLCRPRC;;;AU)(A;;CCLCRPWPRC;;;SY)(A;;KA;;;BA)S:(AU;FA;KA;;;WD)(AU;OIIOFA;GA;;;WD) and press Enter.
