JSI Tip 9565. Windows Setup may report the size of an IDE hard disk incorrectly?

When you boot from the Windows operating system CD-ROM to install Windows, and you delete a one or more partitions, the free space is divided, even though there are no partitions left on the disk.

This behavior can occur if the IDE disk was previously part of a RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) stripe set.

To workaround this problem:

1. Boot the Windows operating system CD-ROM and start Setup.

2. Delete all the divided entries.

3. Boot the Windows operating system CD-ROM and start Setup.

NOTE: You may have to repeat this procedure several times, until the no divided free space entries remain and the size of the free space is the disk size.
