JSI Tip 9420. ASR (Automated System Recovery) does not restore the Windows Time service on Windows Server 2003?

When you use ASR to recover your Windows Server 2003, the Windows Time service is NOT properly restored.

This behavior will occur if you changed the startup type of the Windows Time service to Manual or Disabled prior to generating the ASR backup. The backup utility ignores the Windows Time service if its' startup type is not Automatic.

To workaround this behavior, after you receive a warning message that the Windows Time service could not start:

1. Open a CMD.EXE window.

2. Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each line:

w32tm /unregister
w32tm /register
net start W32Time
