JSI Tip 8728. A regression in the 823738 Media Player fix prevents encoding and playback of some formats with the Windows Media ASF Filter.


When you attempt to play content with multiple audio or video streams, that is encrypted with WMDRM (Windows Media Digital Rights Management), the Windows Media ASF File Reader Filter will generate the following error when the file is loaded:

0x80070057 -- One or more arguments are invalid.

When you attempt to encode 24-bit audio, or multi-channel audio, using Windows Media ASF File Writer, you receive:

0x80040217 -- No combination of intermediate filters could be found to make the connection.

These problems are caused by a regression in 823738
