JSI Tip 8599. Your IIS 6.0 Web site does NOT display file names without an extension?

Internet Information Services 5.0 displayed files with no extension by default, but IIS 6.0 does not.

To enable the displayed of files without an extension:

01. Open the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager from the Administrative Tools Start menu folder.

02. Expand the Web Sites item.

03. Right-click your Web site and press Properties.

04. Select the HTTP Headers tab.

05. Press MIME Types.

06. Press New.

07. In the Extension box of the MIME Type dialog, type .*.

08. In the MIME Type box, type application/octet-stream.

09. Press OK, OK, and OK.

10. Right-click your Web site and press Stop.

11. Right-click your Web site and press Start.
