JSI Tip 8412. You cannot use Group Policy to reinstall a program in Windows 2000?

If you use the Control Panel Add or Remove Programs applet to uninstall a program that was installed by Group Policy, Group Policy will NOT reinstall the program.

When you use the AppWiz.cpl (Add or Remove Programs) applet to remove a program, it does NOT remove the Group Policy application management information.

To manually remove the Group Policy application management information:

1. Start / Run / Regedit / OK.

2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy\AppMgmt.

3. Expand the AppMgmt sub-key and Delete the sub-key that has the program you want Group Policy to reinstall in the Deployment Name Value Name.

4. Press OK.

5. Exit the Registry Editor.
