SUMMARY

A new update is available for Internet Explorer 5.x and 6. Update rollup 871260 includes security update 867801 and all Internet Explorer hotfixes that were released after security update 832894. This update is available from the Microsoft Download Center. If you are a system administrator, you can use the Setup switches to perform a customized installation of the update. For all versions except Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP 64-Bit Edition, Version 2003, you can verify that the update is installed by confirming that Q871260 is listed in the Update Versions section of the About Internet Explorer dialog box. For the Windows Server 2003 versions and the Windows XP 64-bit versions, you can verify that the update is installed by comparing the versions of the updated files on your computer with the files that are listed in the " File Information" section in this article. You can also confirm that the IsInstalled DWORD value appears in the following registry key and that it has a value of 1:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\\{42cd6e37-d75d-4b9a-bcd5-4aedd9e32728\}.
The Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 5.5, and Internet Explorer 5.01 versions of this update require a restart for the installation to complete. You can remove this update by using the Add or Remove Programs tool (or the Add/Remove Programs tool) in Control Panel. Additionally, system administrators can use the Ieuninst.exe utility or the Spuninst.exe utilitiy to remove this update. The Ieuninst.exe utility is installed in the %Windir% folder. The Spuninst.exe utility is installed in the %Windir% \$NTUninstallKB867801$\Spuninst folder.
