JSI Tip 8123. Windows Media Play reports 'Invalid File Format. (Error=8004022F)'?


The subject behavior will occur if any of the following are true:

  • One or more Windows Media Player files are missing or corrupted.
  • The media file you are attempting to play is damaged.
  • The format of the media file you are trying to play is NOT supported.
  • The media file you are attempting to play uses a codec which is NOT installed.
  • The media file you are attempting to play uses a codec which is NOT supported.

See You receive an "Invalid File Format" error message in Windows Media Player for a resolution.
