These errors are generally the result of an antivirus or firewall program that prevents the Windows Update software from functioning properly.
To troubleshoot the issue, temporarily disable the firewall and/or antivirus program. If this resolves the problem:
- You may want to contact the vendor for instructions.
- Make sure TCP/IP ports 80 and 443 are open in both directions.
- Make sure the firewall isn't blocking scripting functions on Web sites.
