You experience any of the following on Windows XP Professional:
- When you attempt to open a mapped network drive, there is no drive letter in the Address bar.
- When you attempt to create a folder, or file, with a long name, on a mapped network drive, you receive:
The drive that this file or folder is stored on does not allow long file names, or names containing blanks or any of the following characters: \ / : , ; * ? |
You cannot create the long-name file or folder on the mapped drive.
To resolve this behavior, Enable the Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon policy at Computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ System \ Logon.
