JSI Tip 7596. When you perform an authoring action on a Web site that is hosted on Windows Server 2003, you receive Event ID 1000 warning messages?

For each authoring action that you perform, the Application event log on the server contains events similar to:

Type: Warning
Source: FrontPage 5.0
Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Description: Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions: (OS Error #-1073741819 Message: exception occurred at 0x77e4199a)

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Type: Warning
Source: FrontPage 5.0
Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Description: Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions: http://ServerName - Error #80002 Message: System exception: access violation.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

These warnings occur if all of the following are true:

  • The Windows Server 2003 computer has FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions installed.

  • The virtual server that hosts the Web page that you are authoring is extended with FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions.

  • The virtual server has the Log authoring actions box checked.

To workaround this behavior:

1. Start / All Programs / Administrative Tools / Microsoft SharePoint Administrator.

2. On the Server Administration page, press Administration next to the virtual server that you wish to configure.

3. On the Virtual Server Administration, below Administration, press Change configuration settings.

4. Clear the Log authoring actions box, under Security Settings.

5. Press Submit.
