The Windows 2000 NETSTAT -an command shows ports in a listening state that are not really listening.
When you start a connection to another computer, the source port used is improperly listed as listening on address 0.0.0.0. If you try to connect to your computer on that port, you discover that it is not in a listening state.
This behavior has been corrected in Windows Server 2003.
