JSI Tip 7474. How can I refresh a missing host name Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) registration without restarting the client computer?

Windows 2000 and later clients register their host name with the Dynamic Domain Name System. When various problems cause the registration to become missing, you can refesh the resistration of a client computer, regardless of wether it uses a static or dynamically assigned IP address, without restart the client workstation or client server:

1. Open a CMD prompt on the client computer.

2. Type ipconfig /registerdns and press Enter.

NOTE: You can use PsExec \\RemoteComputerName -s ipconfig /registerdns to do this remotely.
