JSI Tip 7432. When you attempt to remove Internet Explorer 6 from Windows 2000, Add/Remove Programs only offers a repair option?

When you try to uninstall Internet Explorer 6.0 from Windows 2000 by selecting Restore the previous Windows Configuration option in the Add/Remove Programs applet of Control Panel, only Repair Internet Explorer is available.

If you reinstalled Internet Explorer 6 after installing a Windows 2000 Service Pack, and then uninstalled the Service Pack, you will experience this behavior.

To workaround this problem:

1. Perform an in-place upgrade of Windows 2000.

2. Apply the latest Service Pack you wish to install.

3. Install the version of Internet Explorer that you require.
