When you use Gpedit.msc to edit local policy settings on Windows XP, the changes DO NOT become effective.
To workaround this behavior, use either of the following methods:
Delete the Group Policy Objects temporary registry key:1. Copy / Paste the following to a GPOTD.reg file:
\[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy Objects\]
2. Merge the GPOTD.reg file with your registry, or run regedit /s GPOTD.reg.
