The subject behavior may occur if you use an HP Direct Letter Access (DLA) driver.
To fix the problem:
1. Use Control Panel to open the Add or Remove Programs applet.
2. Select HP DLA and press Remove.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Open My Computer.
5. Right-click the recordable CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive and press Properties.
6. Select the Recording tab.
7. Check the Enable CD recording on this drive box.
8. Press OK.
