When you start Outlook 2000 after you upgrade from Windows 98, you receive:
The add-in "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Xcolext.DLL" could not be installed or loaded.
If you press OK, outlook starts properly.
To fix this problem:
1. Start Outlook 2000.
2. Press Options on the Tools menu.
3. Select the Other tab.
4. Press Advanced Options.
5. Press Add-In Manager.
6. Clear the XTNDConnectPC check box.
7. Press OK, OK, and OK.
8. Exit outlook.
9. Start Outlook 2000.
If you receive the subject error:
1. Close all programs.
2. Start / Search / All Files and Folders.
3. Type extend.dat in the All or part of the file name box.
4. In the Look in box, select Local Hard Drives or the drive that your local profile is stored on.
5. Press Search.
6. Right-click Extend.dat in the results pane and press Rename.
7. Type Extend.old and press Enter.
8. Press Close on the File menu.
9. Restart Outlook to create a new Extend.dat file.
