JSI Tip 7000. The Windows Server 2003 'Remove previous installs of this product for computers, if the product was not installed by Group Policy-based software Installation' Group Policy option does NOT work on legacy versions of applications?

When deploying an application with Windows Server 2003 Group Policy, you can remove previous version of the software that was not installed by Group Policy. The Advanced menu contains the following option:

Remove previous installs of this product for computers, if the product was not installed by Group Policy-based software Installation.

When you set the option and deploy the application to users and computers, legacy versions of the software may not be removed, even though the check box was functional.
