JSI Tip 6978. You cannot connect to other computers after running the Windows XP Network Setup Wizard?

When you use the Network Setup Wizard to create a home network, you cannot connect to other computers on your network. When you press Entire Network in My Network Places, the other computers are not displayed.

This behavior will occur if the Network Setup Wizard created a network bridge between the IEEE 1394 Connection and the Local Area Connection.

To fix this problem:

1. Press the Start button and right-click My Network Places.

2. Press Properties.

3. In the Network Connections window, right-click Network Bridge and press Disable.

4. Right-click Network Bridge again and then press Delete.

5. Press Yes to confirm the deletion of the network bridge.

NOTE: See How can I prevent the Windows XP Network Setup Wizard from creating a network bridge?
