JSI Tip 6764. When a remote desktop user shuts down or restarts a Windows Server 2003 computer, the console is NOT notified?

When the remote desktop user shuts down or restarts the computer, the display turns black and the computer shuts down or restarts.

NOTE: For a short time during the process, you can log onto the console and start programs, before the computer 'unexpectedly' shuts down or restarts.

Before shutting down or restarting the computer:

1. Use Administrative Tools to start Terminal Services Manager.

2. Hold down the CTRL key as you select each user that shows active in the State column.

3. Right-click a selected user and press Send Message.

4. Type an appropriate message and press OK.
