JSI Tip 6692. When you use Internet Explorer 6 on Windows Server 2003 to install Macromedia Shockwave Player, you receive : 'Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page'?

When you visit the Macromedia Shockwave Player Download Center to download and install Macromedia Shockwave Player, you receive:

Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly.

This behavior can occur if the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration feature is enabled.

NOTE: See How do I get information about the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration feature in Windows Server 2003?

To workaround this problem, add the following Macromedia Web sites to the Trusted sites zone in Internet Explorer:

http://download.macromedia.com
http://sdc.shockwave.com

NOTE: See How can I manually add a site to the Trusted Sites zone?
