JSI Tip 6602. How do I set printer properties for local and remote users of a Windows Server 2003 computer?

Set Printer Properties for Remote Users

  1. Press Start / Printers and Faxes.
  2. Right-click the printer you want to set the default printing preferences for and press Properties.
  3. Select the Advanced tab and press Printing Defaults.
  4. Set the parameters you want on the Layout and Paper Quality tabs.
  5. Press Advanced and set additional parameters such as print quality and paper size.
  6. Press OK until all the open dialog boxes are closed.

Set Printer Properties for Local Users

  1. Press Start / Printers and Faxes.
  2. Right-click the printer you want to set the default printing preferences for and press Properties.
  3. Select the General tab.
  4. Press Printing Preferences and press Advanced.
  5. Set the parameters on the Layout and Paper Quality tabs.
  6. Press Advanced and set additional parameters such as print quality and paper size.
  7. Press OK until all the open dialog boxes are closed.

NOTE: To set these properties on a printer served by a print spooler resource of the Cluster service, connect to the printer through the network name for the spooler. Make the changes to document settings through this connection.
