JSI Tip 6586. How do I prevent users from using the Printers folder to delete local and network printers?

The Disable deletion of printers Group Policy at User Configuration / Administrative Templates / Control Panel / Printers prevents users from using the Printers folder to delete local and network printers. If a user tires to delete a printer while this policy is enabled, they receive a message a Restrictions dialog with the following message:

This operation has be cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.

NOTE: This policy does NOT prevent users from using other methods to delete a printer.

This policy adds the NoDeletePrinter Value Name, a REG_DWORD data type, to the registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer. A data value of 1 indicates that the policy is enabled. A data value of 0, or a missing NoDeletePrinter Value Name, indicates that the policy is disabled or not configured.
