If you use NTBackup to restore data from two different backup sets on two different tapes of a multiple-tape backup set, you receive:
Error: An inconsistency was encountered on the requested media.
This error is issued after you restore data from the first tape and then attempt to start restoring from the next tape.
The problem occurs because NTBackup prompts you to mount the wrong media.
NOTE: If a single backup set spans multiple media, this problem does NOT occur.
NOTE: In addition to the problem described here, using NTBackup to append media is a bad idea, as the lose of access to the tape looses multiple backups.
To workaround this issue, only restore from one backup set at a time.
