JSI Tip 6413. Windows XP SP1 intermittently reports an I/O device error when you access your floppy disk?

When you access your floppy disk, you receive:

The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

If Windows is dynamically changing the processor power state from the C2 to the C3 state, a deeper idle state, this problem may occur.

If the problem persists, see How do I adjust the elapsed time before Windows XP places my processor in a deeper idle state?
