This article describes the Dynamic DNS properties tab in Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).MORE INFORMATION
To find this tab:- Start the DHCP Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in.
- Right-click the DHCP icon, and then click Add Server.
- After the wizard starts and the first dialog box is displayed, click Next.
- Type the IP address of the server you want to manage, and then click Next.
- After the server is located and the wizard summary screen is displayed, click Finish.
- Click the plus sign (+) next to the server to expand the property tree.
- Right-click the server, and then click Properties.
- Click the Dynamic DNS tab.
- The first option (Update According to Client Request) tells the DHCP server to only update the DNS server if the client requests an update.
- The second option forces all clients to let the DHCP server update on behalf of the client, regardless of client settings.
- Discard Forward Lookups When Leases Expire
Instructs the DHCP server to send a registration remove request to the Dynamic DNS server when the DHCP client's lease is expired. - Do Updates of Non-Dynamic DNS Clients
Is important to use in the situation of clients that are not Dynamic DNS aware (for example, any Microsoft operating system prior to Windows 2000).
