JSI Tip 6372. The Printer Properties dialog box displays 'The Directory operation is still in progress'?

When using the Sharing tab of the Printer Properties dialog in an Active Directory domain, the following error is displayed below the List in the Directory check box:

The Directory operation is still in progress.

This is symptomatic of a DNS problem. Either the DNS server IP address on this computer's TCP/IP properties is incorrect or the DNS server is mis-configured.

NOTE: The DNS server IP address must point to the DNS server that has the DNS zone for the Active Directory.
