Microsoft reports that a bug in the WsLsaGetUserInfo and UserInfoResponse APIs cause the Windows 2000 Messenger service to register an additional NetBIOS name in the form of ComputerName$<03>.
The problem has NOT been fixed through Service Pack 3 (SP3).
Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 do NOT exhibit this problem.
