JSI Tip 6230. How do I add incompatible programs to the Windows Media Player 9.0 bypass list?

If you have programs that have older controls that do NOT work correctly with Windows Media Player 9.0, you can add them to the bypass list to cause the old controls to be invoked.

To add a program.exe to the bypass list:

1. Open the Registry Editor.

2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimExclusionList.

3. Add a new sub-key named program.exe.

4. Exit the Registry Editor.

To add a filename.dll to the bypass list:

1. Open the Registry Editor.

2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimDllExclusionList.

3. Add a new sub-key named filename.dll.

4. Exit the Registry Editor.
