When you try to upgrade a Windows 98 computer to Windows XP, you receive a message similar to:
Stop: 0xc000221 Bad_image_checksum Image user32.dll is possibly corrupt. Head checksum does not match computed checksum.
This BSOD will occur if a file becomes damaged during the upgrade.
To fix the problem:
1. Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM in the drive.
2. Restart your computer.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to start from the CD-ROM.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade to Windows XP.
