JSI Tip 5962. Windows XP 'could not start because of an error in the software'?

When you start Windows XP, you receive:

Windows could not start because of an error in the software. Please report this problem as : load needed DLLs for kernel. Please contact your support person to report this problem.

This issue can be caused by mismatched or damaged library (.dll) files.

You may have to reinstall Windows XP.

NOTE: If you perform an in-place upgrade of Windows XP, all your restore points are replaced by a new System Checkpoint restore point. If you want to use System Restore to roll back to a previous state, DO NOT perform an in-place upgrade.

NOTE: If Windows XP was preinstalled on your computer, see 312369 - May Lose Data or Program Settings After Reinstalling Windows XP.

NOTE: See 316941 - HOW TO: Install Windows XP.
