JSI Tip 5913. Unbinding Client for Microsoft Networks does NOT disable shares in Windows 2000?

In previous operating systems, unbinding Client for Microsoft Networks disabled shares on your computer.

When you unbind Client for Microsoft Networks in Windows 2000, you disable RPC and NetBIOS over TCP/IP (NetBT). It does NOT disable direct hosting of Server Message Blocks (SMB) over TCP/IP

To disable shares in Windows 2000, you must disable File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks.
