JSI Tip 5757. When do you have to reinstall a Windows XP service pack?

In tip 5734, I explained that you DO NOT have to reinstall a Windows XP service pack when the system state changes.

You DO HAVE TO reinstall a Windows XP service pack if:

- You perform and in-place upgrade of Windows XP.

- You perform a repair of Windows XP.

- You use System Restore to restore to a restore point created before the service pack was installed.

- You upgrade to Windows XP Professional from Windows XP Home Edition.

NOTE: If you upgrade from Windows XP Home Edition, use tip 34 to remove the service pack entry from Add/Remove Programs.
