JSI Tip 5547. You are prompted to save or open a file from your local computer, even if you disable downloads?

When you visit a site, you receive the File Download dialog, which prompts you to save or open a file from your local computer, even if you turned off File Downloads?

If the URL you open points to an executable file on your local computer, you are prompted because files on the local computer are in the My Computer zone, and cannot be turned off via the GUI.

To resolve the problem for all users of this computer:

1. Copy / Paste the following to a LCS.REG file:

REGEDIT4

\[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0\]
"1803"=dword:00000003

\[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\]
"Security_HKLM_only"=dword:00000001

2. Merge the LCS.REG file with the computer's registry.
