JSI Tip 5049. How can I use Windows XP to create a MS-DOS startup disk?


You can use Windows XP to create a MS-DOS startup disk that contains:

AUTOEXEC.BAT
COMMAND.COM
CONFIG.SYS
DISPLAY.SYS
EGA.CPI
EGA2.CPI
EGA3.CPI
IO.SYS
KEYB.COM
KEYBOARD.SYS
KEYBRD2.SYS
KEYBRD3.SYS
KEYBRD4.SYS
MODE.COM
MSDOS.SYS
To create the MS-DOS startup disk:

1. Insert a diskette into your floppy disk drive.

2. Use My Computer to right-click the 3½ floppy drive and press Format.

3. Check the Create an MS-DOS startup disk and press Start.

4. Press OK to dismiss the WARNING.

5. Press OK on the Format Complete dialog box.

6. Press Close to dismiss the Format dialog.
